See, this one might seem more like something that news outlets do. Yes, it is closely like that, but here by industry updates I mean that you are aware of what is going on in your field and you make it a point to write about it. 

For instance, I am in the SEO industry and if there is a new update today then I should be aware about it and also write about it as soon as possible. Now how I write depends upon my target audience. 

If my goal is to get clients or educate my clients, then the direction of my content would be - how does this update affect a business or something which is relevant to my clients. 

But if my target audience are SEO folks, then my focus of covering that update would be from the intent of telling the technicalities of SEO that will impact the work of my SEO peers. 

You need to figure out the direction of your content when it comes to giving industry updates. 

For instance, Unrola and the AI app store, where you can find all the information related to AI and the upcoming apps, are making full use of this strategy.

These platforms have people like you and me who are asking questions and seeking an answer from someone who has an experience in the field or if they have not found a good answer during their search on Google. 

Either way, they tell you exactly what your customers are asking. What doubts they have that you can resolve. So now that you know that, what is stopping you from creating new SEO content? 

Because if your customers are searching for it on Reddit and Quora then they are doing it on Google as well and you want them to find you.

This list would have been incomplete without the AI tools. Generative AI tools like ChatGPT might not have been able to completely change the SEO market, but they sure as hell have upgraded it alot. They are such a helping hand especially when it comes to finding inspirations related to anything and everything. 

Go to ChatGPT and ask industry related questions, for instance, ask about what could be an SEO friendly topic to work on in the business that you are in. Then get those topics, search for them, and see what content is ranking. If you feel it is worthy of being written based on the volume of keywords, then go ahead.

Refresh your old content

Content ideas for SEO do not always have to be new! You do not have to get traffic just from new content you can repurpose and update your older content as well. Once you do that you will not only see the traffic of your updated content go up but also a significant increase in the rankings.

Fresh content is obviously rewarded, thus, find your already top performing content pieces, pick them up and refresh them. Add new content, images, and everything else as you see fit and watch how your traffic scales. 

This is one of the most effective yet least time consuming ways to stay on top of your SEO content game. 

Look at your Google Search Console data

This one is one of the best yet underrated ways of finding new SEO content ideas. The best part about it is that it gives you content ideas that are not just new but also being searched by your customers. 

Checkout your query feed, and find out the queries you are ranking for. You will notice that some queries that your SEO content piece is ranking for are not even directly related to it. For instance, if this blog is about SEO content ideas, but if it ranks for the query ‘marketing content ideas’ as well, that’s when I know that the intent of the user must have been different. But my blog is ranking probably because there is no content out there which is catering specifically to that query.
